Limited edition of 106 copies, the first 16 of which were issued in a signed, hardback edition.

The author first met Frank Hayes in 1962 when they were both in the Salford Schoolboys’ team that played in the Lancashire Schools cricket competition. One of them went on to play for, and later captain, Lancashire County Cricket Club, scored a century on his England Test debut, and was seen as the new hero of the English game. The other played a lot of 2nd XI cricket in the Bolton Association! Eight years after he had single-handedly won the Lancashire Schools Cup, and after completing his education at Sheffield University, Hayes made his belated first-class debut for Lancashire. Within a couple of years, the author’s admiration of him as a cricketer and person, led to him taking out a membership at Lancashire so that he could continue to enjoy the special talents of his former teammate.
