A short account of the Minor Counties championship match between Lancashire CCC 2nd XI and Staffordshire CCC that took place on 8, 9 June 1926 at Bentgate, the home ground of the Lancashire League cricket club Haslingden. The encounter saw 52-year-old John Tommy Tyldesley, coach and captain of the Lancashire “colts,” score his only century in the competition, against a bowling attack that included his erstwhile Lancashire and England teammate, the legendary bowler SF Barnes.
